About Me
I earned my BA from Boston College (1986) and my MED from Curry College (2005). I am a Physical Education and Early Childhood teacher for Middleboro Public Schools. My background is in Education but in 2016, I began my journey with Reiki, training and eventually earning my certificate as a Master Level Practitioner. In 2017, I continued my learning, earning certificates in Holy Fire 1 and 2/Karuna Reiki Master Teacher. I traveled to Amherst, MA for a two-day training on using Reiki for End of Life Care and earned a Reiki-Hospice Certificate.
In 2018, I became a Hospice Volunteer, providing Reiki treatments through Cranberry Hospice and Palliative Care, with Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital. In 2019, I joined the Reiki Team at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, treating patients in the Oncology Wing of the Connors Building; patients in the Shapiro Cardiovascular Center; pre-op and post-op patients in the Tower Building and patients in critical care of the ICU.
Serving as a practitioner for Brigham and Women’s Reiki Program was a phenomenal experience and honor. I worked with patients from New England, throughout the United States and from around the world. I attended Reiki conferences at BWH, sponsored through Harvard University, and learned many new skills. I participated in two BWH wellness programs, providing treatments to hospital staff. Every patient’s experience was unique, but following the hospital’s 20-minute treatment session, patients expressed gratitude and shared with me that their pain had diminished or subsided and they felt a sense of deep relaxation. It was a common occurrence for the floor nurse to cancel a prescription order for a sleep aid because Reiki had induced sleep. At BWH, I was fortunate to regularly witness the gentle power of Reiki.
